On the road

If you do nothing else today then have Jack Kerouac read you a little from his book, “On the road” as Steve Allen and band play a little tune.

Kerouac’s book is associated with what was known as “the beat” generation. It is a generation piece, a piece that people will refer to as a reflection of the time it was written. Needless to say it still strongly resonates today. It resonates with me in the same way that, “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee did in that the heroes are people that I can relate to, that I would in some respects like to be. The freedom of Dean Moriaty and the absolute beauty of Atticus Finch as the man that stood up for what he believed was right sit well with me.

Use your little listen buds and see if you too like the reading of Kerouac’s novel.
